OSHKOSH, Wisconsin -- Pilot and NASCAR team owner Jack Roush made headlines here for all the wrong reasons earlier this week when he crashed his private jet on the runway. He remains hospitalized, and the mishap overshadowed the unveiling of Roush's latest hot-rod, a 510-horsepower Mustang.
Roush is a fixture here at the AirVenture air show, and he's known for flying one of his P-51 Mustangs and showing off his modified Ford Mustangs. His latest model drawing plenty of interest.
The Roush P-51B Mustang is trimmed with badges featuring the red and yellow checkerboard pattern of the 357th Fighter Group of World War II. The same color schemes appear on his restored P-51 Mustang aircraft.
The wild ride puts down 510 horsepower and 510 foot pounds of torque. It's a Roush Mustang, so you know there are all the chassis, brake and suspension upgrades he uses on his track-ready machines. It's a bit steep at $66,560, but look at it this way -- it's $1,510,000 cheaper than buying the other Mustang that Roush enjoys flying in.
