Wizards of the Coast has concocted yet another way for gamers to send money towards the Child's Play charity.
The creator of Magic: The Gathering will hold parties around the world on the weekend of July 16th to celebrate the launch of Magic 2011, the 12th core expansion set of its collectible card game.
The more duelists that attend, the more money Wizards of the Coast will donate to Child's Play. The company promises to fork over up to $22,000. Its initial pledge of $11,000 will be met if 40,000 fans attend the parties. They'll add $1,000 to the pile for every additional 1000 gamers in attendance.
Child's Play is a charity started by Penny Arcade cartoonists Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik. Every year the organization raises cash donations from gamers to provide toys, games and movies to children's hospitals. Last year, Child's Play encouraged gamers to pitch in $1.78 million towards the cause.
