A special RoboCop-themed trip on Gowalla acts as a self-guided tour of Detroit, the city used as the setting for the sci-fi franchise.

Check in at three locations on the RoboCop trip and you'll receive a custom pin (pictured) for your Gowalla passport. The first 50 fans who hit all nine destinations on the RoboCop trip will receive a VIP prize package to attend a special screening of the movie Aug. 14 at Detroit's Russell Industrial Center.

Gowalla's RoboCop trip, which went live Thursday on the location-based service that competes with Foursquare, is one of nine associated with The Alamo Drafthouse's Rolling Roadshow. The national outdoor film series, which is sponsored by Levi's, will screen classic movies in specially selected cities. Many of the trips include locations used during filming. (RoboCop was mostly filmed in Dallas and Pennsylvania.)

Here's the full Rolling Roadshow lineup, which includes a San Francisco showing of Dirty Harry and a screening of The Blues Brothers at Chicago's Joliet Prison.

While the generic-looking, Levi's-branded pins for the trips aren't nearly as cool as the sweet graphics Gowalla whipped up for Comic-Con International last week, the chance to win a VIP prize package to the Alamo's Rolling Roadshow is definitely worth a road trip.
