Sci-fi, gore and cult movie characters get remixed in the new Crazy 4 Cult 4 gallery show, which showcases works by 100 artists that offer twisted distillations of flicks ranging from A Clockwork Orange to Tron.
The works, available in limited-edition prints, include Mike Mitchell's rendering (pictured above) of a fantasy movie house in which Robocop and Boba Fett rub shoulders with Pee-wee Herman and Kevin Smith don 3-D glasses and stare at the silver screen.
"Loving a cult movie is like being in an exclusive club," gallery owner Jensen Karp told Wired.com in an e-mail. "You take ownership and defend it. To see other talented artists remixing the characters and icons makes for a creative and fun art exhibit."
Now in its fourth year, the Crazy 4 Cult 4 exhibition, subtitled The Case of the Redundant Number, takes place at Los Angeles' Gallery 1988 through July 30.
