In a scene reminiscent of 1954 sci-fi flick Them!, gigantic red ants seem to swarm on the side of a Houston building before falling victim to America's oldest insecticide. The Texas-size bugs in the 3-D projection were killed by Black Flag – over and over, every 60 seconds – after the Houston Astros game Friday.

"The projection process, called animated 3-D mapping, involves re-creating a detailed 3-D model of the projection surface [of the Veteran's Administration] building walls in computer, and modeling the animation around that surface," according to a press release. "Black Flag's is the first U.S. ad use of the technology for a non-video-related product."

It's just the latest example of artistic and commercial enterprises using new technology to supersize projected visuals in outdoor displays: Don't miss the AC/DC and Iron Man projection from a few weeks ago.
