Sony on Tuesday highlighted the first console shooter made for 3-D televisions, Killzone 3.

Made exclusively for the PlayStation 3, the game is the first console shooter developed in a native 3-D environment, according to Sony.

The announcement of Killzone 3 follows Sony's major move into 3-D televisions. Earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show, the company showcased its first commercial 3-D TV line, the Bravia LX900. The TVs boast a 240-Hz frame rate, creating a 3-D effect for customers wearing special glasses. The company also announced partnerships with companies such as ESPN and Imax to create 3-D content.

To take advantage of an immersive 3-D environment, Killzone 3 players will have the option to use Sony's new PlayStation Move system, a handheld motion controller wand that works with a camera called the PlayStation Eye to track the wand's position. The Move system will offer more precise pointing and shooting for Killzone 3 gamers.

In addition to Killzone 3, a slew of other 3-D games made for 3-D TVs will be coming out next year, including Gran Turismo, Sly, MotorStorm and NBA 2K11.

Killzone 3 will be available in February 2011. The full E3 trailer is above.
