SAN FRANCISCO – The Halo: Reach multiplayer beta will begin on May 3, Microsoft said Thursday.
Gamers who want to test Bungie's final game in its world-changing first-person shooter series need only buy last year's Halo 3: ODST and wait a few more months until the beta unlocks. Microsoft made the announcement at the X10 event in San Francisco, where it also revealed U.S. release dates for more of 2010's most anticipated Xbox 360 titles:
Alan Wake will be released on May 18.
Crackdown 2 will be released "later this year."
Dead Rising 2 will be released on August 31.
Dead Rising: Case Zero, a downloadable Xbox Live exclusive game that tells the story between the sequel and the first game, will be released prior to Dead Rising 2's launch.
Fable III will be released this holiday season. (Read our eyes-on preview of Fable III.)
Lost Planet 2 will be released on May 18.
Splinter Cell: Conviction will be released on April 13.
Finally, the "Xbox Live Arcade Block Party" promotion will bring the games Toy Soldiers, Perfect Dark, and Scrap Metal to the Xbox Live Arcade downloadable games service this March, in addition to the classic game download store "Game Room."
