CDF

Microsoft developed the now obsolete channel definition format (CDF) as an application of the eXtensible markup language (XML) as a standard for push media. The media could be considered very close in relation to the more commonly used RSS standard. CDF was abandoned when Microsoft dropped support for it in Internet Explorer 7.0.
