The organizers of the Penny Arcade Expo warn that tickets for their upcoming gaming convention in Boston will sell out long before the event takes place.

"Based on what we’re seeing on pre-registration numbers there will be no badges available at the door," organizers warned this week.

And this isn't just a sales ploy, insists Robert Khoo, Penny Arcade's president of operations. "What we're trying to prevent here are people coming up to the door and being disappointed that they can't get in," he told Joystiq on Friday. He said that at last year's PAX in Seattle, some didn't heed the warning and "flew in from out of town without getting badges beforehand."

PAX East will be held in Boston, Massachusetts from March 26-28. This is the first time that the convention, the brainchild of Penny Arcade cartoonists Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, has been held on the east coast. The event promises three days of fan-friendly fun: Expect a flood of concerts, tournaments, panels aimed at the geekiest parts of the human brain.

Kohler and I will be there to play games, report on the event and participate in panel discussions. I'll be joining Kyle Orland, Chris Grant, Lev Grossman and Susan Arendt to dish the dirt on games journalism.

Chris plans to pit writers and game designers in a no-holds barred panel called "Journalists vs. Developers: The Ultimate Grudge Match," speak about organizing fundraisers for Child's Play and participate in a live Retronauts podcast.

Book your tickets now and don't forget to get your flu shot.
