Dubai's economy might be in a freefall of Icelandic proportions, but that isn't stopping auto-loving emirs from checking out the insane Kepler Motion hybrid that debuted at the 10th annual Dubai Auto Show this week.

The Motion, developed by world speed record holder Russ Wicks, claims a top speed north of 200 mph and a zero to 60 time of less than 2.5 seconds. It achieves those Veyronic figures with two powertrains. The rear wheels are driven by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo Ford EcoBoost V6 modded to put down 550 horsepower. A 250-horsepower electric motor drives the front wheels.

In addition to a crazy-powerful hybrid drivetrain that surely packs enough torque to start a sandstorm, the Motion benefits from "extensive use" of carbon fiber in its body and chassis, and of course in the carbon ceramic brake rotors. All that power wrapped in such expensive bodywork makes us certain we'll see a Motion on wreckedexotics.com shortly after the first one leaves a showroom.

The Motion will be limited to 50 hand-assembled models when production begins in 2011. Of course, such a beast could only debut in Dubai.

"The region has a passion for ultra high-performance, limited-edition supercars, and presents the ideal platform to showcase the advanced technology and innovative features of the Motion," Wicks said in a statement.

Let's hope they still have the cash.
