Russia and the United States may be planning "unprecedented" cuts to their nuclear arsenals, but Russia's Strategic Rocket Forces still have plenty to celebrate. Russia's leaders have been talking up a nuclear first strike option, and the Kremlin wants to invest in modernizing the country's nuclear deterrent.
And hey, it's the holiday season: The official birthday of the Strategic Rocket Forces is Dec. 17. We may be a few days late, but if you want to join in the festivities, here's an promotional film that features lots of, uh, missile erectors. It definitely earns a place in the Iron Eagles, our tribute to the most awesomely bad films of the military-industrial complex.
The (Russian-language) comments on the YouTube page are particularly priceless. "If the Big One kicks off, we're counting on you," writes one. "If all goes down, push the button, turn the key and don't hesitate."
