Blizzard released significant patches for World of Warcraft and Diablo II this week.
The 3.3. patch for World of Warcraft, dubbed The Fall of the Lich King (trailer above), is said to be one of the last major content updates for the game before the Cataclysm expansion ships. The list of new features, tweaks and fixes is huge. But the major takeaway here is the addition of new, high-end dungeons that further develop the plot of Arthas. Some pundits believe that, at this rate, Arthas will be dead by April.
The patch for Diablo II doesn't deliver an avalanche of new content, but it's significant if only as an example of Blizzard's undying support for its beloved games. Diablo II has been out for nearly ten years and Blizzard is still squashing bugs. There's a good chance that these changes are part of the grooming process to prepare Blizzard's back catalog for the new Battle.net social network. For now, the improvements made to Diablo II can be experienced on a test server – the official Blizzard forums have all the details on how to copy your old characters to the new servers.
