CarMax, the website that lets you do tons of research before laying down some long green for your next car, has released its list of the ten cars everyone was asking about this year. And which car was the most popular among people searching online for info?
It's an oldie, but a goody. The vehicle most frequently run through CarMax's search engine was....
The Honda Accord. For the fourth consecutive year it took the top spot. Which is pretty much what we'd expect. When it comes to a good used car that reliably and comfortably gets you from point A to B, it's tough to beat the Accord. And it would seem, if you give credence to the CarMax stats, that the 5.5 million people that drop by their site every month, that a large number of car shoppers feel the same way.
Not every thing is as tried and true as the Accord though. The Jeep Wrangler and Chevy Silverado were new entries on the list for this year, which shows that there are still some buyers interested in SUV's and heavy haulers.
The full list of CarMax's most searched for cars is:
- Honda Accord
- Ford F-150
- Chevrolet Tahoe
- Ford Mustang
- Toyota Camry
- Honda Civic
- Jeep Wrangler
- Toyota Tacoma
- Nissan Altima
- Chevrolet Silverado 1500
"This year's list shows the variety of makes and models our customers are considering when shopping online for a quality used car," said Ann Yauger, the director of CarMax.com.
We're not going to argue with Ann on that spot, but there are some interesting items that can be teased out from the list.
The Chevrolet Tahoe coming in third also points to American consumers continuing infatuation with big SUV people carriers. The Ford Mustang, coming in at fourth on the list shows that the most recent re-design holds its value in the used car market. And numbers five and six, the Toyota Camry and the Honda Civic and almost gimmes at this point in time.
