Set for a private event held at the Redbull House in Santa Monica on December 11th, Machinima's “Inside Gaming Awards" add an online user component to annual game accolades. They'll launch as a part of Machinima.com's normal “Inside Gaming” series schedule available on the company's immensely popular YouTube channel. The new awards' selection process invites Machinima's more than 60 million monthly visitors to help select the winners.

The first pre-awards show will arrive on YouTube this weekend (November 27), serving up nominations across 18 categories including: Game of the Year; Best Game Cinematography; Best Trailer; Best Multiplayer; Best Art Direction; Best Control; Best Re-playability; Best Indie Game; Best DLC (Downloadable Content); Best Downloadable Game; Most Original Game; Best Game Innovation; Best Original Score; Most Compelling Character; Best Weapon; Best Narrative; Best Sound Design and Best Animation.

Nominees qualify for two separate awards — the official industry “Inside Gaming Award” and a “Gamer’s Choice Award” chosen by the Machinima.com community's votes collected between Nov. 27 and December 7. The second awards special airs on December 15 to announce the winners.

Stay tuned to Wired for more on the "Inside Gaming Awards" and Machinima in the coming days.
