We're waiting for a pizza delivery, which means its as good a time as any to conclude our latest WTF? caption contest, this time featuring a bizarre contraption that even Domino's seemed to banish from their corporate memory.

After we posted the photo of the car, Phil Lozen from Domino's HQ contacted us to assure readers that the Triton No. 1 Experimental Pizza Delivery Vehicle was never considered a serious replacement for the standard-issue beater with an illuminated "Domino's" sign suction-cupped to the roof.

"It was a prototype delivery car that was designed in 1983-84, we think," Lozen told Wired.com. "While it was designed to look like a rocket ship, it actually had a maximum speed of 35 mph. The pizza bags were to sit on a 'shelf' directly behind the driver. During the company’s 25th anniversary, people [had] the chance to drive it around the parking lot. I don't believe it was ever close to being a reality."

Thanks for clearing that up, Phil. Now, on to the winner. Drumroll, please...

From Charles M. Claud comes what may be the single best caption contest entry we've ever seen: "The Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs? We did it in 30 minutes, and brought pizza." Bravo, Charles -- we much appreciated your Millenium Falcon reference, and 110 readers agreed. For your efforts, we're going to have 10 extra large Ultimate Pepperoni pizzas prank delivered to your house.
