Joss Whedon's low-rated sci-fi series Dollhouse survived the ax last May and lived to see a second season. But after failing to gain traction in its deadly Friday night slot this fall, the show has been canceled by Fox.
Prospects looked dim for Whedon and star-producer Eliza Dushku when Fox yanked Dollhouse from its November sweeps schedule. Now Variety reports that the network has shuttered Dollhouse, with plans to finish out the show's Season 2 episodes beginning Dec. 4. The remaining nine episodes will give Whedon's show about a memory-implanted "doll" (Dushku) and her dysfunctional colleagues "the opportunity to end in a significant way," the network said.
The series, which benefited from a fan rally to keep it alive before it was ever broadcast, has suffered inconsistencies from the get-go, but still had its moments. Are you happy to see Dollhouse shut down, or have Fox executives lost their minds? Weigh in below.
