reddwarf-backtoearth-dvdBritish sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf made such a successful return to TV this year with its "Back to Earth" three-part miniseries, fans are still harrumphing about a possible resurrection of the show.

Until that happens, you'll have to be satisfied with a free DVD of the director's cut of Red Dwarf: Back to Earth from the generous folks at BBC America. The disc hit store shelves just last week.

An introduction for the uninitiated: Eight seasons of the cult comedy ran on BBC2 between 1988 and 1999. Each Red Dwarf episode features Dave Lister — the last human known alive — as he slugs through life on a wandering spaceship millions of years into the future with only a hologram, an anthropomorphized cat and a humanoid robot to keep him company.

*Red Dwarf *made its successful comeback with "Back to Earth" last spring on the U.K.'s Dave Channel. Lister and his crew return to Earth to discover their adventures are being made into a TV show called Red Dwarf.
