Matt Smith is well underway shooting his first season as The Doctor under new show runner Steven Moffat. To mark the evolution of the world's longest-running science fiction television series, the BBC unveiled a new Doctor Who logo to represent the franchise.
The new logo (above) also includes a first for the series -- an insignia combining the title's D and W into the shape of The Doctor's Tardis.
While it's folly to read too much into a logo, it is a cold white and blue image lit and lonely against pitch black. If Moffat's version of the show intends to be darker than the Buffy-ized romp of Russell T. Davies' very successful incarnation, this art design would fit the bill.
But David Tennant and the old logo will make three more appearances in November and December as his final Doctor Who specials air this year.
