First-person survival horror lives on the Nintendo DS in Dementium II, coming this February.
Currently in development at Austin game studio Renegade Kid, the game picks up right where 2007's Dementium: The Ward left off, with more scary story, gory visuals and graphical wizardry that pushes the limits of the DS.
In Dementium II, players find themselves waking up, once again, not knowing where they are or how they got there. It turns out the protagonist has had brain surgery, and is locked up in a mysterious prison where he must battle his way out against grotesque enemies, all while occasionally and inexplicably shifting to a terrifying parallel world.
Dementium: The Ward saw average reviews that praised its presentation and graphics but not the frustrating save and mapping systems. The developer has fixed those issues in Dementium II, while adding outdoor environments and making the game twice as big as the first title.
With the fact that there isn't much competition for Mature-rated first-person horror games on Nintendo DS, *Dementium II *should hit the sweet spot for that niche of gamers.
