GeekDads all know the importance of reading to our kids.

The value is beyond just the words laying down good neural pathways in our children's brains. The value is the time we spend, the moments we share, the narratives and stories we can talk about later.

But, we can get carried away. I remember trying to read The Hobbit to my three-year-old a few years back now. My desire to engage him in the story was more about my desire to share one of my favorite texts and made me blind to the fact that it simply wouldn't engage him.

Adam Ford is a writer, zinster and comic book guy from Australia.

He has written a little poem about reading to his daughter. It is, as is his way, whimsical, a bit geeky and humorous in a way.

It reminded me of when I tried to read The Hobbit to my son.

It is a short little poem called, "Again!" Have a read.
