When Stan Winston died last May, he left behind a visual effects legacy unlike any other. Next week, a trove of artifacts documenting Winston's contributions to sci-fi classics including Jurassic Park, Terminator and AI: Artificial Intelligence will be sold to the highest bidders.
On Oct. 8 and 9, Profiles in History is staging an auction of 85 props, costumes and set pieces created by Stan Winston Studio.
Among the offerings are the 120-inch-long T-rex maquette developed for * Jurassic Park* (pictured above) and a robot model used in Steven Spielberg's AI: Artificial Intelligence, pictured right.
Bids are being accepted in person or online starting at 3 p.m. EST.
A chunk of the proceeds goes toward University of Southern California Film School's new Stan Winston Visual Effects Scholarship.
Based on previous auctions, prices are expected to shoot to the $40,000 to $100,000 range.
The prior benchmark for Winston memorabilia? A full-scale T-800 endoskeleton from Terminator 2: Judgment Day sold for $488,750.

These original full-scale T-800 endoskeletons from Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines were used as a reference for digital artists. Unlike Terminator 2, which featured full-scale endoskeleton puppets, Terminator 3 relied entirely on computer-generated robots.
Measuring 65 inches wide, 9 feet long and 77 inches tall, this screen-used armored drone was seen in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
