Valve will release "Crash Course," the second downloadable expansion for acclaimed first-person shooter Left 4 Dead, for the Xbox 360 and PC next Tuesday.
"Crash Course" adds a new campaign to Left 4 Dead's zombie nightmare that bridges the plot between the game's "No Mercy" helicopter escape and the countryside horror of "Death Toll." While this new scenario will be playable co-operatively, its main purpose is to provide a streamlined experience for the game's "versus" mode: Matches that pit survivors against the infected usually take an hour or more, but a "Crash Course" versus session is meant to play out in 30 minutes.
In preparation for next week's expansion, Left 4 Dead has been updated with minor gameplay tweaks and the groundwork for 10 new achievements. The new content will be free for PC players but will cost Xbox 360 gamers 560 points. (That's $7 in real money.)
During Electronic Arts' press conference at the Tokyo Game show this week, the company announced that the Left 4 Dead 2 demo will be ready Oct. 27, with the full sequel due Nov. 18.
