With game sales down, a single slip-up can mean doom for game makers, and Stockholm developer Grin is coming off of three-title losing streak. Their offerings Wanted: Weapons of Fate, Terminator: Salvation and Bionic Commando have all performed below expectations.

Now the game studio is struggling to stay afloat. In May, the studio weathered a wave of lay-offs, with up to half of their company's 200-person team losing their jobs. Then in June, according to Gamasutra, the company closed offices in Barcelona and Gothenburg. A source tells Gamasutra that Grin's Stockholm office is also in danger. Employees of the beleaguered company were told not to show up for work.

Grin last enjoyed a hit in 2008 when their Xbox Live Arcade offering Bionic Commando Rearmed launched to strong sales in its first month.
