On Tuesday, CCP Games, the maker of space-themed massively multiplayer online game EVE Online, announced a new console MMO set in the same universe.
At the interactive games and entertainment convention Gamescom in Germany, the Iceland-based developer unveiled DUST 514, which will feature both first-person shooter and real-time strategy gameplay elements.
According to the press release, DUST 514 will interact directly with* EVE Online*, currently on PC and Mac, for "one of the most massive cooperative play and social experiences ever." The new game takes place in EVE Online's New Eden, and will allow players to engage in "brutal" ground combat on the surface of the galaxy's planets.
CCP also revealed that the MMOFPS has been in development for three years at the company's Shanghai studio. The game is being developed for the current generation of consoles, and CCP promises further details at its annual Fanfest taking place in October.
