Since the cinematic successes of Spider-Man and X-Men, the superhero movie has become a staple of Hollywood summers. Now, it appears, comic books aren't the only place studios are looking to for source material.
Sony Pictures has hired screenwriter Sheldon Turner to adapt Sucker Punch's inFamous videogame. Comic book veterans Avi and Ari Arad will produce the film, based on the game released for the PlayStation 3 this year.
"The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever," Turner told The Hollywood Reporter.
This talented team isn't entirely new to either comics or games. Turner is currently working on a graphic novel for Top Cow while the Arads previously produced The Incredible Hulk among other comic book movies. Avi Arad ran Marvel Entertainment before resigning his position to make movies with Marvel Studios. He is also attached to the big-screen adaptation of another videogame, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
