High-powered, super-light trikes are a dime a dozen these days. The latest, by Polish tuning firm, Marotti, combines an awesome engine with God-awful styling that makes us wonder who's buying these things.
The Marotti weighs 970 pounds and uses a Honda V4 engine producing 100 horsepower. It's only got 750cc, so we're guessing it came from a previous-generation VFR. The company doesn't say how fast the trike will go, but we're guessing the three-wheeler goes fast enough to get you into a lot of trouble. We're not eager to try out the aerodynamics, but some video we found (check it out after the jump) proves it's good for some sweet donuts.
Such hooliganism doesn't come cheap, though. The Marotti costs $35,286. And that doesn't include the cost of the visits you'll make to the emergency room.
Marotti says on its website the trike's bodywork was inspired by fighter jets. This explains the logo, which riffs on the Polish Air Force checkerboard and the BMW rondel. It does not, however, explain the front of the trike, which looks more like a feeding Mianatus grouper than the nosecone of a MiG-29.
No word on the aero specs, but Marotti does mention that it envelopes a steel frame and has a plethora of intake vents. The engine is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox with reverse. Those big honkin' tires are 255/45s up front with a 275/45 out back. They're mounted to 17-inch wheels. And Marotti says the specs may change by the time the trike sees production.
Videos of Marotti's trike running open-throttle on a track are scarce, but we found some clips of it doing donuts and trying to get around a taxi in what looks like the suburbs of Krakow. The soundtrack adds a nice touch.
