The announcement came by owl post to Ioannis Miaoulis, the Director and President of Boston's Museum of Science. With the wave a wand a magic incantation, a charming group of little kids adorned like Harry in glasses and scarves opened the curtain. Behind it was a display of the 10 foot tall, 510 pound chess piece ridden by Ron in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and the brown robe worn by the actor Jim Broadbent when he played Professor Horace Slughorn in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
On Sunday, October 25, 2009, Harry Potter The Exhibition opens in Boston. The exhibition will feature more than 200 authentic props and costumes from the Harry Potter films, displayed in settings inspired by the film sets -- including the Great Hall, Hagrid's Hut and the Gryffindor common room. You will be able to view film artifacts such as Harry's glasses, the Marauder's Map, and Hermione's Yule Ball gown. Kids will also be able to pull a screeching Mandrake from its pot and try their hands at tossing a Quaffle.
Tickets are on sale now. The show will run through February 21, 2010. You've seen the movies, now see the stuff that was in the movies.
For those of you in Chicago, Harry Potter The Exhibition is still open at Museum of Science and Industry until September 27, 2009.
