Yes, my friends, the guests just keep on coming! This very special edition of GeekDad HipTrax features none other than the man behind annual geek-centric music and culture festival Nerdapalooza, John “hex Warrior” Carter. John stopped by to tell us a little about the history of the fest, its charitable leanings and what fans can expect at this year’s event.
Nerdapalooza is still actively seeking volunteers to help out this July 11th and 12th at the Holiday Inn Convention Center on Orlando’s International Drive, and event tickets for regular attendees are also still available. Interested parties are encouraged to hit up the official event site for more details, and everyone with a love for musical nerdery is likewise encouraged to follow Nerdapalooza on Twitter.
But first, the tunage:
“RickRoll + Mario” by I Fight Dragons
Chicago’s I Fight Dragons are scheduled to bring their unique blend of power pop and chiptunes to the greater Orlando area on day one of Nerdapalooza ’09. Will they RickRoll the awaiting crowd of nerds, geeks, dorks and assorted misfits? One can hope, but just in case they don’t this is what it sounds like.
“Dare to be Stupid” as covered by mc chris
You totally didn’t think I’d ever play mc chris on this family-friendly podcast, did you? Go on, admit it! Thankfully, this amazing cover of the Weird Al classic is both squeaky clean and extra awesome. The always entertaining mc will be taking the Nerdapalooza stage as day two’s final headliner.
