Masters of weed Cheech & Chong reunite in a recession-themed Tron spoof slated to go live Tuesday. The video short begins as the two tokers emerge from a smoke-filled van arguing about how the rotten economy is affecting marijuana prices. They then catapult themselves into a videogame showdown haunted by virtual visions of Bernard Madoff and Alan Greenspan.
Presented by Mean magazine, Tron on Motherfucker (embedded above) joins the Cinemash line-up of movie scene re-enactments that will include Heroes‘ Vilo Ventimiglia redoing a fight sequence from Korean action film Old Boy and comedian Will Arnett paying homage to horror staple Carrie.
The clips can be viewed on MSN’s Cinemash site, which launched the digital series last week with a Sid and Nancy spoof featuring Zooey Deschanel. Viewers who have Microsoft’s Zune software can download the clips.
Tron on Motherfucker joins a growing roster of web shorts honoring Jeff Bridges’ 1982 trapped-inside-a-videogame classic. Later this month, a Tron love-fest invades Comic-Con International, where Disney will unveil the official Tron 2 sequel trailer.
