Were you wondering how Activision's upcoming full-band, family-oriented music game Band Hero was going to work on Nintendo DS? Why, with the help of a little plastic drum controller, of course! Duh.

Yes, Activision said Thursday that Band Hero will include not only the "Guitar Grip" controller but the "Drum Grip" (above) as well, which apparently will sit over the DS' face buttons and turn them into drum pads that you hit with your thumbs. In addition, *Band Hero *will also feature a vocals mode, in case you are suddenly struck with the urge to start singing Avril Lavigne on the bus. Now it'll be even harder to tell who's schizophrenic and who's just playing DS.

Band Hero, which will be available later this year, will also feature the music of the Killers, Blink-182, KT Turnstall, and Fallout Boy. It'll also have a No Fail mode (how innovative). The guitar controller will still only be compatible with the Nintendo DS Lite hardware, as it inserts into the Lite's second cartridge slot. No word yet on the drum controller's compatibility.

(Note: Activision said following the announcement that the entire game would be incompatible with the DSi, so even if you just want to sing, you're SOL.)
