Every decent art museum in cities around the world has a website. But only one exists only as a website.
Museum in a Shoebox is a web-based project by a Swedish artist and architect, Kristina Dalberg. It presents real and imaginary works by real and imaginary artists, "blurring the line between fact and fiction."
Created with tools at the artist web service, indexhibit.org, the would-be attraction is recreated in miniature on the site with every theorized detail laid out for interested visitors.
The Museum in a Shoebox is located at 15 Old Street, Old Town and opens every morning by 11 a.m. (dark Mondays). It boasts a cafe, a gift shop, an inert artist in residence and a scholarship for aspiring tiny, plastic students.
