A master of gory reboots, director Marcus Nispel will get a chance to orchestrate massive bloodshed in the upcoming remake of Conan the Barbarian.
Variety reports that Nispel will direct Conan on the heels of his recent Friday the 13th remake and the 2004 do-over of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Nu Image/Millennium Films has has been trying to reboot Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1982 Conan the Barbarian fantasy flick for nine years. The Wachowski Brothers, Robert Rodriguez and Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand) all came and went before Nispel signed on.
Nispel says he'll draw inspiration from the hyperheroic illustrations produced by fantasy artist Frank Frazetta for Robert E. Howard's original story. Shooting begins late this year in Bulgaria and South Africa.
