Move over, Slanket! There's a new craze in sleep accessories. Now, nappers can stop worrying about have a radiological device interrupt their beauty rest. A Miami firm has introduced a "bomb blanket" that it says will provide "total protection against ballistics, dirty bombs and all types of radiological and nuclear incidents."
Radiation Shield Technologies promises that its blankie is made of "Demron," a hearty "radiopaque nano-polymeric compound" which not only provides level IIIa ballistic protection -- it also "has been proved to block gamma rays, X-rays and nuclear emissions by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
"Demron technologies are used worldwide by NATO, NASA, the National Guard, US Navy, UAE and the governments of South Korea, China, Saudi Arabia and Australia, among others," the company adds. "Scientists have selected it for future space travel."
The Demron-packing blankets aren't cheap: a 48" by 48" model lists for $15,000 on the company's website. But a good sleep is priceless.
