Everything about the Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS is over the top, from its silly name to the four - count 'em, four - scissor doors. But it's just the thing for dropping the kids off at polo practice before hitting the autobahn.
Designers Emile Pop and Justin De Boer wrapped a supercharged Corvette engine in a carbon fiber body to create a car that looks like an evil jack-o-lantern and moves faster than GM grabbing a government handout. Boutique automaker Bewerp calls the Savage the world's only four-door "topless on demand" supercar. It seems "convertible" is too plebeian a word for a $340,000 automobile with a built-in champagne cooler.
We won't try to dispute a distinction that specific, but we'd sure like to put the car's performance figures to the test. Bewerp says the supercharged 6.2-liter engine is good for 670 horsepower and the Savage will do zero to 62 in 3.2 seconds. Top speed is said to be 205 mph.
Production is slated to begin in the second half of 2010. Bewerp plans to build four a year for five years.
