We knew that when we announced the first ever Autopia iPhone Flight Control Contestwe'd see some heated competition and impressively high scores, but now the the contest is over we just have to ask: have you guys done anything in the last ten days other than play this game? Because some of the screenshots we've seen must have required hours and hours of play – the scores were just that good. We're guessing there may have been isolated cases of neck strain related to huddling over an iPhone for hours on end.
But there can only be one winner, and ours is a player by the name of Matthew, who emailed in with a high score of 940 points. Even more impressive: he submitted the winning screen shot on the second day of the contest, which means he was a well-oiled plane landing machine before our contest was even announced. Congrats, Matthew. Job well done.
For his stellar score and commitment to air traffic control excellence, Matthew wins a very cool TWA t-shirt. Because nothing says aviation cred like proudly sporting the logo of a defunct airline. We hope you enjoy it. And if you don't, please mail it back. We'll wear it.
Our contest may be over, but the competition continues. Firemint, the company that makes Flight Control, has issued a new version of the app that allows users to upload high scores to a website that site compiles and ranks high-scoring flight controllers from all over the world, along with a map that shows where the powerhouses players are located. No disrespect to our winner Matthew, but some of them make 940 look child's play.
Oh, and one more thing. For the clown who sent us a score of 13,450: your screen shot would have been a bit more convincing if the numbers you Photoshopped in were all the same color.
Congrats again, Matthew. Your t-shirt is on its way.
