For a guy who supposedly wrapped up his time as Doctor Who when he finished filming double, year-ending, season climax specials, David Tennant hasn't stopped playing the role by any stretch.
In addition to making a cameo appearance on John Barrowman's variety show, Tonight's the Night, Tennant is also slated to appear in two episodes of the CBBC Who spin-off, The Sarah Jane Adventures. According to Sarah Jane creator and show-runner Russell T. Davies (former Who executive producer), The Doctor will crossover to join his old companion in these third season stories in what amounts to two extra episodes of Doctor Who adventure before Tennant regenerates into Matt Smith at year's end.
Finally, Tennant will make one more colorful go at the part on a second Doctor Who animated series, Dreamland. Written by Who and Torchwood scribe Phil Ford, the six minute mini-episodes will feature Georgia Moffett ("The Doctor's Daughter") and David Warner (Time after Time, Tron).
