A Bay Area artist is making a name for himself by taking junk and transforming it into unique robotic creations.
Morgan Hill, Calif.'s Paul Loughridge is following in the footsteps of Alexander Calder and Joel Hodgson with his unique, themed robot sculptures.
Loughridge tells Wave Magazine that his only rules are no welding, no plastic (unless its part of other metal scrap), no painting, and each finished piece must be named for something that went into its creation. For example, the piece at right is entitled "Mr. Coffee."
Now, Wired.com's local readers can catch an exhibition of Loughridge's work at the SLG Art Boutiki & Gallery in San Jose, Calif. opening Friday, June 5.
