It'd sure be cool if BigDog, the military's experimental four-legged robot, was really heading off to war in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, it ain't. "No BigDogs have been to Afghanistan. I do not know of any plans to send them there," says Marc Raibert, founder of BigDog-maker Boston Dynamics.
The alarmingly-lifelike machines have gone through trial runs at Ft. Benning, Georgia. They've even been shipped overseas, for the Cobra Gold joint military exercise in Thailand, Raibert adds. "So maybe someone got confused about that."
