Los Angeles might be the only city this side of Endor where you'd be not at all surprised to see stormtroopers guarding a comic book store en masse.
Those Imperial forces joined other costumed Star Wars fans at Golden Apple Comics on Melrose Avenue near Hollywood Tuesday night to celebrate the release of Fanboys on DVD.
Stars Dan Fogley and Jaime King joined director Kevin Newman to sign copies of the DVD. Even Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) made a cameo.
The evening was given a sense of verisimilitude by the appearance of stormtroopers from Darth Vader's 501st Legion ("Vader's Fist"). The Dark Lord of the Sith himself was also on hand, alongside a squad of Mandalorians and Princess Leia in her slavegirl get-up. Throw in some Red Bull and blue milk, and fanboys real and fictional partied until the binary suns went down.
