In a goofball feature titled "Insanity Claws," Mad magazine mercilessly eviscerates the overexcited comic book fans piling into theaters to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The spoof diary of a fanboy, reproduced above, appears in the 500th issue of the revered satire mag, on stands now. "We take our usual cheap shots," said Mad editor John Ficarra in e-mail to Wired.com.

Wolverine isn't the only lionized pop culture icon brought to heel in the landmark issue, which also takes a swipe at Google's Big Brother-esque feature creep. Elsewhere in the mag, Mad fires salvos at Donald Trump, Alex Rodriguez, Babe Ruth, Elvis Presley, Batman, Jesus and even President Barack Obama. Suspiciously missing? Ex-President George W. Bush, who probably could have written his own Mad lampoons in his sleep. Right?

"Write himself? No," Ficarra answers. "We're not even sure he dressed himself."
