SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Tuesday's Web 2.0 Expo keynote included president of Microsoft's business division Stephen Elop who dismissed Google Docs, part of Google's online application suite, as the ability to "bold, underline and italicize for free," while also suggesting Microsoft will have an answer to Google Apps in the year (or indeterminable amount of time) ahead.

"He also forgot spell checking and some other features," said Google's Vice President of Engineering Vic Gondotra in response to Web 2.0 Expo organizer Tim O'Reilly question in Friday's keynote.

"He has to say that." Gondotra was nonplussed. "Office is Windows' flagship application. You need a flagship application to show off what Windows can do."
