In spring, a young genre fan's fancy turns to the TV and the DVD player. It'd pretty much been there all winter anyway, but this time of year brings along some new titles to keep everyone glued to the flat screen.
Doctor Who: The Key to Time (Special Collector's Edition: Presenting a full season from the Tom Baker era, these stories were previously released in the U.S. without a lot of the bangs and whistles of more recent Who DVDs. So, the BBC sent them out again with new special features and commentary tracks.
Cracker: The Complete Series: Available for the first time in one volume from Acorn Media, Cracker is one of British TV's all-time classic crime shows. Featuring Robbie Coltraine in the role of a lifetime, Cracker blended brutal drama and cynical commentary on human nature to produce the only series that can rival Prime Suspect for in the Brit-TV hierarchy.
Hulk Vs. and Wolverine and the X-Men: These animated titles from Marvel each shoot for a different audience. The more violent, PG-13 Hulk Vs. pits the green mutant against Wolverine and Thor in two chaotic features for teens.
Wolverine And The X-Men: "Heroes Return Trilogy" spins out of the Cartoon Network series. While packing its share of action, it's aimed at the after school cartoon crowd when it hits shelves in April.
The Last Detective – The Complete Collection: Peter Davison (Doctor Who #5) stars in this successful mix of comedy and mystery. Also from Acorn, The Last Detective casts the affable Davison as a very average sleuth forced to overcome his shortcomings.
Cinematic Titanic – "Blood of the Vampires": Joel Hodgson Cinematic Titanic returns with its latest release – available online today. This international disaster from a bunch of folks who brought you Mystery Science Theater 3000 can come to you via mail or through the sites "burn your own DVD" feature.
