Elspa_logo Last week, investigators in Camden, London raided an unnamed business' premises and seized 50,000 illegal game copying devices -- the largest haul of such devices in the UK.

On January 29th, an investigator from the UK's Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) accompanied police and officers of Camden Trading Standards (a regulatory body that enforces fair trade legislation) to put a halt to clandestine sales of game copying devices, and counterfeit game copying peripherals for the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

While the business "cannot yet be named for legal reasons," ELSPA
investigators reportedly made several test purchases from the company's website, and decided to take legal action after the company continued to hawk its wares despite receiving notices from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs to abandon its illicit trade.

During the raid, investigators uncovered a full production line, including stacks of packages just waiting to be shipped to customers all over Europe. The seized items were all carted off by the ELSPA, for forensic investigation. I for one would hate to be working in the company's customer service department right about now, doling out refunds or ducking calls from angry customers who won't be getting their knock-off Wii games.
