The first Grand Theft Auto IV add-on, The Lost And Damned, "eclipsed first-day revenue" for all downloadable content previously released on Microsoft's Xbox Live service, the company claims.

Additionally, the firm's official release characterizes the DLC as "the highest reviewed downloadable content ever" and claims that it caused "a greater increase in active users the week before launch than seen from any previous downloadable content."

No doubt Microsoft is keen to get its money's worth -- some reports claim the company paid developer Rockstar Games up to $50 million for the exclusive rights to the expansion -- but I'd be more inclined to believe these sterling endorsements if the company were to back them with solid figures, instead of simple rhetoric.
