The biggest shock of the now thankfully moribund Hollywood award season might not be the Academy's lack of vision and courage while failing to nominate The Dark Knight for Best Picture and other top Oscars. In fact, it could be The Golden Raspberry Awards shutout for one of the decade's wondrously bad films – M. Night Shyamalan's eco-horror flick, The Happening.
Winners of The Razzies were announced the day before the Oscars in what had to be a more entertaining ceremony. Saturday's big winners were Mike Meyers and his Love Guru, along with Paris Hilton for her overall body of work in 2008.
But where's the justice when the most prominent award for cinematic disasters fails to honor the kind of art enjoyed in the scene above? Though nominated in most major categories, The Happening emerged without a single big Razzie – leaving it unjustly filed in the bad movie archives under M for mediocre and not under T for turkey.
