Significant portions of the amazing sci-fi and horror relic collection amassed by the late Forrest J. Ackerman are going up for sale.
Ackerman, publisher of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, assembled tens of thousands of science fiction and horror props and collectibles over the years, showing them off to tour groups in his Ackermansion in Los Feliz, California.
Scheduled for April, the museum-worthy gathering of books, props and costumes is expected to bring in more than a half-million dollars for the Ackerman estate and his friends.
Ackerman, the man credited with creating the term "sci-fi," died in December.
Items up for bid in the auction include a first-edition copy of Dracula signed by Bram Stoker and Bela Lugosi and the ring the vampire wore in the film version.
