Age of Conan
- publisher Funcom will be merging a number of the online world's servers, reducing the total count of individual online realms from 49 to a mere 18.
This news follows the successful merger of the "Bloodspire" and "Hyperborea" servers on January 7. Though the future mergers will come over the course of the following weeks and months, a forum post from a senior community manager at Funcom outlines the entirety of the firm's planned restructuring.
Long-time MMO fans will no doubt recognize server mergers -- particularly those on such a relatively vast scale -- as proof of an online world's ailing health. Despite a promising start, the game has been plagued by bugs and other issues that have driven many players to abandon the world in favor of World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online and other games.
Despite the PC version's woes, Funcom recently renewed a commitment to release Age of Conan on the Xbox 360 sometime this year.
