With Warner Bros. looking up to Rorschach and begging for that final word on a legal settlement with 20th Century Fox, Watchmen's marketing people seem confident enough to hit the throttle on a new website.
A hearing set for Jan. 20 was supposed to decide which studio held the rights to Watchmen, but U.S. District Judge Gary A. Feess postponed the decision as both studios began to talk settlement. Now that hearing has been canceled, according to The Hollywood Reporter, making a final agreement seem imminent.
Meanwhile, a new promo page (I Watch the Watchmen) went live Wednesday with new downloads and other goodies to keep the hype machine rolling. As for the "In cinemas 06.03.09" date on the new international site, don't be alarmed -- the movie's scheduled March 6 release date has not changed, according to a Warner Bros. representative. That's just the European way of displaying dates.
