Projection screens and whiteboards don't get any love because they lack sexiness, but they are essential to the office experience. Now, a company is combining both into one product that could prove successful as school and medium-to-small companies across the country are looking for ways to cheapen their budgets.

Elite Screen's new StarBright Whiteboard screen is essentially an improved projection screen made out of materials that maximize reflected light, with a dry-erase surface. According to the company, the screen brings out the brightness and clarity in a projection as much as a flat-panel LCD, or four times brighter than the regular matte white surface.

This means that if it's used with a high-quality projector, you could conceivably use it for some nice movie watching as well.

The $400 StarBright Screen comes in 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios in sizes at 60, 80, and 96 inches (16:9).

It’s true that one can project an image over a regular whiteboard, just like you can project an image over anything, but regular whiteboards just don't reflect light correctly. I used to work at a large internet company where a manager consistently used a good projector for meetings, but the reflected light from the board drowned out small fonts horribly and splotches of light dominated the 'display.' Everyone ended up squinting their way towards a mostly wasted hour of guessing what the hell he was referring to.
