The multi-player beta for Dawn of War II was fired up last night, giving eager fans their first look at the upcoming real-time strategy game for the PC. The beta is only available through Steam's digital distribution service, and will be available to the general public for free on January 27.
But if you'd like to join us in our merry conflict right this minute, you'll need to own Dawn of War: Soulstorm, the final expansion to the original Dawn Of War series. If you bought it at retail, dig up that CD key and activate the title on Steam to get into the beta immediately.
And if you don't own it, for a limited time – until January 28, to be precise – the game will be sold on Steam for $7.50, a 75% discount on a pretty decent expansion pack, and well worth the price of admission.
The beta will run until Dawn of War II is released on
February 18, and gives players full access to all of the game's playable races and five of the multiplayer maps. Stay tuned for hands-on impressions.
